The Business

We are currently supporting a fantastic chilled business with sites across the UK. The business supplies a range of meal options to the top UK grocery retailers. They are currently looking for a Category Marketing Manager to manage 2 of their key accounts. Their customer intimate approach requires in-depth category knowledge and leading thinking on data sources and research techniques. The Category Marketing Manager’s role is to be dedicated to a site and will work closely with the commercial and NPD teams, categories and customers to support their business development plans. The role will involve a mix of home and office working including travel to a Northern retailer 1 day per week.

 

The Role

  • Implement a shopper/consumer insight led approach to commercial activities to deliver competitive advantage & profitable growth for the business
  • To understand the performance drivers of the customer vs the market and other retailers
  • Build and develop category knowledge internally within the business by driving the category and shopper agenda
  • Develop and apply category, shopper, retailer knowledge to ongoing business issues
  • Develop and sponsor new business opportunities for the commercial team
  • Provide direction and guidance to NPD in developing products
  • Work in partnership with NPD, Sales and Finance to ensure range recommendations enhance our commercial position

 

The Person

  • Degree standard – ideally marketing/business related
  • Comfortable with quantitative and qualitative data commissioning and use
  • Own brand experience - additional branded experience an advantage
  • Customer facing & shopper research experience e.g. Kantar/Nielsen, AIMIA
  • Self-Serve/Dunnhumby & IRI Epos
  • Strong numerical & analytical skills
  • Good commercial awareness
  • Effective presentation, communication & influencing skills
  • Excellent planning, organising & project management skills
  • Confident, motivated, leader with self-belief & persuasiveness
  • Able to work effectively in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment within a cross functional team
  • An enthusiastic, committed and flexible approach
