The Business

We are currently working with an ambient deserts business to support the recruitment of a Category Controller. The business is looking to restructure their Category team and are looking for high energy individuals to help shape this process. The business supplies a range of branded products used in baking and is part of a large group with interests across the UK. The role will offer flex between office and home working.

 

The Role

  • Delivery of budgeted sales & margin
  • Implementation of the Category Strategy
  • Regular development of business strategy alongside the Senior Leadership Team
  • Develop meaningful relationships with Category contacts across major customers to drive growth plans
  • Support commercial colleagues in providing market leading category insight
  • Support NPD in proactive development of innovation pipeline
  • Full budget control for all data and shopper/ consumer research services
  • Negotiation of contracts with data and insight providers

The individual

  • Experience of engagement of retailers at a senior level.
  • Experience of leading the category management agenda in an FMCG business, preferably within Food
  • Experience of the creation of category visions and drivers.
  • Experience of using industry data to understand category performance and shopper behaviour.
  • Experience of running ad hoc consumer / shopper research projects.
  • Has worked closely with the NPD function to provide direction for future development.
  • Experience of developing and motivating teams, growing capability.
  • An ability to think strategically
  • Excellent presentation skills and personal gravitas
  • Creativity in generating category growth initiatives and execution methods
  • Analytical skills coupled with the ability to draw out insights and make recommendations
  • Ability to work collaboratively with both internal teams and retail partners and network with multiple customer contacts
  • Enjoys developing team members with strong coaching ability
